ISAC aspires to aid in promoting, advancing, and developing Islamic schools inspired by current and developing research on Islamic education in Canada.
ISAC works in partnership with educators and organizations to foster the development, growth, and quality of God-Centered Islamic education starting primarily from an Islamic worldview.
ISAC is committed to the education of Muslim children towards being model Canadian citizens who will contribute to the development and welfare of their country and the ummah.
The Islamic Schools Association of Canada (ISAC) was established in 2022 with the purpose of bringing together Islamic school leaders, teachers, practitioners, and researchers across Canada. The history of Islamic schools in Canada dates back to the early-1980s at a time where Muslim immigrants had established themselves in different parts of the country. For over four decades of establishing the growing trend of Islamic education in Canada, school leaders and educators find themselves in need of greater community, connection, and collaboration. ISAC aspires to provide a space for just that!
ISAC is a member of the Global Association of Islamic Schools and is working closely with the Council of Islamic Schools in North America (CISNA) and the Islamic Schools League of America (ISLA). With these partnerships, ISAC is committed to carry out foundational research on Islamic education in Canada and full-time Islamic schools. With a team of educational experts, including some of the renowned pioneers of Islamic education in Canada, ISAC is establishing networks with community-wide schools and organizations to share the latest and greatest resources, guides, and professional development workshops on topics such as Islamic pedagogy, teaching from an Islamic worldview, addressing gender and LGBTQ issues in our schools and communities, and much more. Together, we engage in rich learning experiences & advocate for Islamic schools in Canada on issues that matter!
